Rheumatology and Rehabilitation

Within the pathologies of the locomotor system, there are several diseases that can benefit from thermal treatment:

- Osteoarthrosis (gonarthrosis, coxarthrosis,….), Chronic arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis,…), Para-articular rheumatisms (painful shoulder, chronic tendonitis, bursitis,…), Traumatic arthropathies (sequelae of trauma resulting from: post orthopedic surgery, postural vices, muscular atrophies, etc.);

Other rheumatological situations such as:

- osteoporosis, fibromyalgia or diffuse idiopathic polymyalgia syndrome (SPID), low back pain, painful muscle contractures;

Neurological pathologies such as:

- cerebral palsy with spasticity, stroke sequelae with hemiplegia and traumatic sequelae with nerve damage.

In the case of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, the thermal treatment carried out at Termas da Felgueira is based on the combination of various thermal techniques and complementary techniques, to promote the improvement of the functioning of the Locomotor Apparatus. In the medical consultation, the thermal treatment that combines thermal techniques of immersion, shower, steam and hydrokinesiotherapy, with complementary kinesiotherapy techniques will be prescribed. These will always be used in order to enhance the natural effect of our ancient water!
